Carnegie Mellon Validates Production Xirrus 802.11n Network
- Carnegie Mellon University has moved from beta to production status with its Xirrus WiFi network array. The beta project was initially announced in November 2007. At that time Xirrus said it would open up its Linux-based wi-fi array operating system (ArrayOS) to the university and participate in co-development of features and applications that include services such as device and network management, roaming pattern analysis, and usage pattern analysis.

Ave Maria U Deploys In-Building Cellular Gear
- Ave Maria University in southwestern Florida has deployed ADC's InterReach Fusion in-building wireless system to provide multi-carrier cellular service on its campus. The system currently delivers cellular services from inside a 90,000 square foot library and campus center as well as three, 40,000 square-foot dormitories.

ASU Campus Nixes Fiber; Chooses Gigabit Wireless for Network Connectivity
- The Mesa-based Polytechnic Campus of Arizona State University (ASU) has deployed BridgeWave's gigabit wireless radios to extend campus network connectivity to a nearby academic partner.

Sun Unveils Family of Open Storage Appliances
- Sun Microsystems has recently announced the availability of its new Unified Storage Systems, the Sun Storage 7000 family. Also know as Amber Road, the initial release includes three products: the Sun Storage 7110, 7210, and 7410.

Office Web Apps Will Work on iPhones
- Microsoft's Office Web applications, announced late last month at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference, will work on "multiple platforms," including Apple's iPhone, according to a Microsoft Channel 10 blog.

Sun To Cut More Than 15 Percent of Global Workforce
- Sun Microsystems, a leader in Java and open source technologies, put market "speculation to rest" Friday. CEO Jonathan Schwartz announced that the company is realigning itself to "adapt to the new economic reality."

Texas A&M Upgrades Supply Chain Lab Curriculum
- The Industrial Distribution Program at Texas A&M University has upgraded to Selltis Sales 5.0 for use in its supply chain systems lab curriculum. The Industrial Distribution Program has been using Selltis for its industrial distribution course offering since 2002 and recently migrated to the newest version of the company's CRM software. The Selltis Sales platform includes tools to automate marketing campaigns and lead management as well as quoting and providing field service.

Anna U Chennai Partners with Cypress on Embedded Systems Engineering
- India's Anna University Chennai and San Jose-based firm Cypress Semiconductor will be setting up a joint programmable system-on-chip (PSoC) laboratory in Anna's Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy Campus. The PSoC lab will be a platform for providing technical training, development of intellectual property, and embedded systems as part of the university's embedded system design community.
